Understanding your BMI results

What your BMI means

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple way to estimate whether your weight is in a healthy range for your height.

BMI ranges

  • Below 18.5 — Underweight
  • 18.5 to 24.9 — Healthy weight
  • 25 to 29.9 — Overweight
  • 30 and above — Obesity

Important to know

BMI is a useful guide, but it’s not a full picture of your health.

It does NOT account for:

  • muscle mass
  • body composition
  • age or sex
  • where fat is stored in the body

For example, someone with a lot of muscle may have a higher BMI without having excess body fat.

How to use your result

Think of your BMI as a starting point, not a diagnosis.

  • If your BMI is outside the healthy range, it may be worth exploring support or making small, sustainable changes.
  • If your BMI is within range, maintaining your current habits is a positive step.
